In 2025, Lanzini & Sons restored the reredos and Stations of the Cross and renewed stenciled decorative wall painting at St. Anne’s Parish in Porterville, California.
Repainting and regilding the reredos
The reredos is the decorative structure behind the altar. We restored and repainted it.

After

The niche behind the crucifix changed from blue to red as part of the repainting work.

Regilding selected ornament
Some of the ornament had tarnished, so we regilded those portions as part of the finish work.

We used scaffolding to reach the high painted areas, with coverings protecting the altar and tabernacle below.

Restoring the stenciled wall painting
The repeating wall pattern had areas of flaking paint.

After

For this decorative painting restoration, we made custom stencils and repainted substantial portions of the existing design. We also renewed the clear coating and freshly gilded the crowns within the pattern. The work retained the same wall design while renewing its painted and gilded surfaces.
Large painted artwork was also part of our work at Sacramento’s Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, where we restored paintings and reinstalled murals high in the church.
The Stations of the Cross

We restored the existing Stations along the nave, including their relief scenes and frames.

Stations work has continued elsewhere in our church art practice, including the series at Corpus Christi in Tahoe City.
Project location: St. Anne’s Parish, 378 N. F Street, Porterville, CA 93257.
For church paintings, gilding or Stations that need care, send overall views and details of flaking paint or worn ornament. Any records of earlier work are useful too.
