We design custom sanctuary furnishings and restore or adapt existing elements. Work can include altars, baptismal-font arrangements, tabernacle settings and related wood, stone or bronze pieces. The furnishing’s use and its place in the sanctuary guide the project.
New work and existing furnishings
A parish may need a new piece, an adaptation to an existing furnishing or a coordinated arrangement. Its proportions, materials and placement should account for nearby art, sightlines and movement through the space. Existing work can be considered for retention or repair as part of that plan.
Examples from completed projects
At St. Francis of Assisi in Sacramento, we restored and relocated an existing historic font, then designed the arrangement with a new marble basin, pillars and a pump. The project combined existing and new elements.
At Saint Columban in Garden Grove, we created a gold-mosaic tabernacle niche and a fitted marble platform in the existing reredos. The commission was the niche and setting, rather than a new tabernacle body.
At Immaculate Conception in Sacramento, interior work included marble tops and columns on an altered altar, tabernacle stand and ambo. At All Saints Anglican Cathedral, custom-cut marble was fitted to an existing tiered altar platform, and new brass communion rails were made.
Plan the furnishing in its setting
Send the intended use, photographs of the sanctuary and approximate dimensions or plans. Note the existing pieces that should remain and the parish’s review team. Access, delivery, floor conditions and utilities can be discussed where they affect the piece.
