St. Francis of Assisi Parish: Sacramento Projects

Lanzini & Sons has carried out separate exterior and interior projects at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Sacramento. The work includes restoration of outdoor terracotta statues, gilding of rooftop crosses and renewal of a baptismal-font setting.

Project location

St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 1066 26th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816.

Terracotta statues and facade work, 2024

Three terracotta statues high above the street had failing paint removed, their surfaces prepared and protective finishes renewed. Selected details received gold leaf while the statues retained a terracotta appearance. The work also included repainting the large facade crest. See the statue and exterior project.

Rooftop cross gilding, 2024

Seven previously brown-painted rooftop crosses were prepared and newly gilded with 23-karat gold leaf. This was a separate job from the terracotta-statue work. See the rooftop cross project.

Baptismal font and interior work, 2026

An existing historic font was restored and relocated near the northeast doors. We designed the full arrangement with a new marble basin, pillars and a pump. The project also included tile flooring, restoration of existing painted artwork and new plaques. See the font and interior project.
