We create custom church-interior elements and work on existing bronze, marble, stone, wood and gilded surfaces. The piece’s function, material and setting guide the design or restoration scope.
Custom bronze and other pieces
Custom work can include bronze pieces, woodwork, modesty panels, tabernacle settings and baptismal-font arrangements. At Holy Spirit in San Jose, we designed a Mary sculpture, arranged its bronze fabrication and installed it. At Saint Columban in Garden Grove, a new tabernacle niche combined gold mosaic, a marble platform and lighting.
For the figure or devotional subject, visit custom statues. For the use and placement of an altar, font or tabernacle setting, see sanctuary furnishings.
Gilding and existing finishes
Gilding may be part of new decoration or restoration of an existing detail. The substrate, exposure and surrounding finish affect what is appropriate. At St. Francis of Assisi in Sacramento, we prepared and gilded seven previously brown-painted rooftop crosses with 23-karat gold leaf. The crosses had not previously been gilded.
The St. Anne’s restoration in Porterville included selective regilding, painted ornament and decorative stencil work. Each surface was part of a wider interior.
Marble, stone and wood
New material may need to meet an existing floor, wall or furnishing. Older work may need repair or adaptation. At All Saints Anglican Cathedral, custom-cut marble was fitted to the tiers of the reinforced existing altar platform. In Redding, marble restoration addressed damage to a Pietà.
Describe the piece and its setting
For new work, send the intended use, location, approximate dimensions and any reference images. For an existing piece, include whole views and close photographs of worn finishes, joins or damage, plus known history.
Discuss material or finish work or read the custom-bronze planning guide.
